1. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” – Mariah Carey  

Released in 1994, this song has become an essential holiday classic. Mariah Carey 's powerful voice is timeless, and "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has become the Christmas anthem. It is one of the most broadcast and appreciated songs during this period!  

In 2019, it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, 25 years after its initial release, and generated over $60 million in royalties. It should be remembered that this song was written in just 15 minutes with producer Walter Afanasieff.  

2. “Last Christmas” – Wham!  

This hit from the 80s, performed by the duo Wham! , is a nostalgic ballad that tells a story of disappointed love at Christmas. The melody and touching lyrics of “Last Christmas” make it an iconic holiday song. It is often covered by many artists, proof of its timeless success. Since its release in 1984, the song has been covered over 400 times by various artists around the world.  

In 2023, it finally reached the Top 1 of the charts in the United Kingdom, after 39 years of waiting. Andrew Ridgeley was delighted with the ranking, paying tribute to George: "George would be beside himself that after all these years we finally got Christmas number 1. Yog (George Michael's nickname) said he had written Last Christmas with the intention of writing a Christmas number 1. It's mission accomplished! »

3. “Jingle Bell Rock” – Bobby Helms  

Since its release in 1957, Bobby Helms ' "Jingle Bell Rock" has been a Christmas holiday classic. With its rock'n'roll rhythm and joyful lyrics, this song brings a festive and danceable energy. The song has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide! 

And above all, her notoriety grew thanks to the film “Mean Girls” , released in 2004! Indeed, Lindsay Lohan plays a high school student who, during a Christmas show, disguised with her friends as Mother Christmases, dances to “Jingle Bells Rock” . 

4. “White Christmas” – Bing Crosby  

“White Christmas” is arguably one of the most famous Christmas songs of all time! Sung by Bing Crosby , it evokes the beauty and serenity of a snowy Christmas.  

The song was released in 1942, and was a phenomenal success. She continues to seduce generations with her melody and poetic lyrics. She holds the world record for the best-selling single of all time with more than 50 million copies sold. 

5. “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” – Bruce Springsteen  

This rock version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" by Bruce Springsteen adds a dynamic and modern touch to this Christmas classic! The energetic rendition of Springsteen and his E Street Band makes it a perfect song to set the mood for end-of-year celebrations. The song was originally written in 1934 by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie and has been covered by many artists since!  

Bruce Springsteen 's version is particularly famous for its live recording, with the amusing intro where Springsteen jokes with his band that they don't get gifts if they don't behave.
